doomguard 1963

my version of silvans and eagles with The Last Alliance

most important point, you can only use the contract(each ability, discount and "a or b") once a round. so the most important question is every round for what you will use it.

the discount can be used every turn so try to get an uneven number at the start of the planning phase.

other advice:

  • contract can reduce cost to 0, O Lórien! to a minimum of 1, take care to make the optimum of both
  • you start with good questing (7 if all go) but it does not improve very much, playing solo, try to keep these who have willpower and cycle the others
  • Sneak Attack shold be used with Meneldor or with Greenwood Archer for a free readying of wilyador or Haldir of Lórien
  • Lembas on Gwaihir for a safety-readying + healing whenever needed
  • it start with hight thread so use Keen as Lances mostly for threadreducing

Nice deck, having Tactics and Lore access lets you include a lot of cards that I could not in my version. I imagine that The Tree People, Flight of the Eagles, and The Eagles Are Coming! work great here. I would probably add Seasoned Forager and Legolas over Keen as Lances.

your suggestions cannot reduce thread, with starting 33 that is needed. with not much carddraw (at least not attachements ) i do not like to rely on Seasoned Forager. the deck is constructed cheap. only 1 ally cost 3 all other only 1-2 with discount o contract or O Lórien! that seems o.k.

Legolas would provide more card draw to make use of the additional resource acceleration. As you said, the deck has cheap cards, meaning you can get a fast board state. In addition, Gwaihir makes you very capable for solo combat, meaning you won't have to dodge enemies. Also, for example, Favor of the Valar and Keen as Lances won't help you against the classic Hill Troll. Personally, I prefer to win faster and then include less threat reduction such as A Lesson in Caution. Lastly, if you don't think that the acceleration of Seasoned Forager is needed, why include three copies of the unique O Lórien!?

because O Lórien! it needs not more acceleration. and O Lórien! is better than Seasoned Forager because it can reduce independent of sphere.

replacing 1 Galadhon Archer with Legolas is perhaps a good idea.

@thread in nightmare its not uncommen that you have to increase your thread by much within 1 round, and i prefer safety over hasty. in addition, if it work well you do not need the threadreduction and can use it or other things.

While O Lórien! is better than Seasoned Forager in this deck, I think including both is still worthwhile. Maybe two O Lórien! and one Seasoned Forager? Seasoned Forager has the advantage of being able to buy eagle allies without needing the contract. Plus, the deck is balanced heavily toward leadership so Seasoned Forager would help with that. Finally, additional copies of O Lórien! are dead cards.
