_"Father," pleaded Faramir "If what he says is true, it could destroy us all!"

"Your quickness to trust the elves leaves your loyalty to Gondor to be questioned." Said Denethor with a withering look at his younger son.

__"No, I'll not waste Gondorian warriors on such folly." He said with finality.

"Then send some of my men." replied Faramir quickly._

"Your...rangers?" mused Denethor, saying the words with disdain. "Skulking and hiding in the shadows...too cowardly to face their enemies head on. Of what use could they possibly be?"

At these words, hope kindled in the eyes of the elf who had come to ask for the assistance of Gondor. Rangers? Quiet professionals used to being unnoticed by their foes...they would be perfect for this quest, thought Haldir.

He began to say as much to the Steward before being silenced by a sharp look from Faramir, who knew that his father would only send the rangers if he thought it a cruel joke on both his son and the elf.

"Very well Master elf" sneered the Steward "You may have the aid you seek...for all the good it will do."

As they left the hall Haldir whispered to Faramir "You will accompany me?"

"I am afraid not" replied Faramir. "Though my father longs to be rid of me, he will not risk me gaining any glory by going on such an endeavor" said Faramir with obvious sadness in his voice.

"But fear not, friend elf" continued the you Captain of Gondor "I have two perfect companions in mind for you. The first is among the best of my Rangers. The second is newly arrived from Rohan and I think you'll find her a valuable companion for your quest."__

This deck is the my personal evolution of mduckwor83's super fun Ye Old Ranger Trap Deck. I have had a lot of fun playing it, but have been slowly tweaking it as new cards are released and I discover my personal play style with the trap mechanic. This version is certainly less "tribally thematic" than the original, but I try to account for that with my little fan-fic up above.

It has quite a few changes from the original. Namely Haldir of Lórien and Éowyn. Though I really like Faramir as a character his ability has just never jived really well for me. Alternatively, I love Haldir's ability to shoot into the staging area. Combined with a low threat, traps and access to some weapons he can become a beast. Eowyn brings easy access to those weapons as well as a few other cards. This can be a squishy deck, so Warden of Healing helps keep everyone going and Feint can help with those really big attacks of enemies that you cannot trap.

Scrying is, obviously, very valuable in any deck focused on traps so this includes a fair bit. If you have more than one core, additional Henamarth Riversongs are probably the most effective scrying, but Interrogation and Scout Ahead are just so fun.

There is a lot of room for tweaking in this deck and the sideboard could include lots of location shenanigans from Lore as well as direct damage or alternate attack events from Tactics (not to mention different weapons if needed). Also, with the introduction of Mirkwood Long-knife, there is probably a good variation with Glorfindel in place of Eowyn.

There are lots of possibilities to adjust this deck and I would love to hear feedback about how to improve it or how it plays. Thanks!!
