jamjams32 1010

jamjams32 has a newer deck inspired by this one: Always Attack First - Revised (Scorpagorn/Eomer/Glorfindel)

This has been proven to be one of my favorite solo decks while still being very powerful. I’ve taken this deck through most of the Grey Havens and Harad AP’s and it’s been performing beautifully.

The whole idea of the deck focuses on always be attacking first and never allow the enemies to attack. When I’m building a deck, one of the first things I consider is how am i going to defend attacks which is a critical part of the game. This deck tries to avoid most of that. In other words, sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

So how are we doing this?

Eomer’s innate ability lets us attack and kill into the staging area during questing. Eomer ability also doubles for pseudo questing as he can so easily be killing enemies in the staging area during questing and thus remove their threat.

Roheryn is such an amazing mount attachment that gives us a repeatable Quick Strike ability. This goes on Aragorn and allows us to attack and kill enemies consistently before they get the chance to attack.

Obviously we’ve got Tactic staples like Feint and Quick Strike to again prevent enemy attacks.

With Aragorns innate ability of giving enemies -1 shield, it makes him a killing machine. I’ve sprinkled in a good amount of direct damage in the Galadhon Archer as well as further reducing an enemies shield with Marksmen of Lorien to ensure that most enemies will be killed instantly and won’t stick around

A big strategy of the deck is Eomers ability as well as Roheryn as mentioned above. But to get the most benefit of these abilities, we have to keep our threat reasonably low. we start with a modest starting threat of 27. From there we’ve got Elronds Counsel and Galadriels Handmaiden to help keep our threat in a resonanable range.

Another bomb card in here that I always try to include wherever I can is Heirs of Earendil. This can help to strategically get rid of a particularly nasty location. Between this and Eomer killing enemies in the staging area, this deck actually has pretty good staging area control.

All in all, this has been a fun and powerful solo deck that succeeds in trying to always attack first. Let me know what you think. And as always I hope you enjoy playing it.

Nice deck idea. I see a little anti-synergy between Aragorn and Eomer, as one of them likes to have enemies in the staging area, while the other one pulls them from there and grants a bonus once you are engaged with them.

Could you explain the inclusion of Rosie Cotton? In solo I see no use for her.

A card that seems great for your strategy, or for any strategy using Eomer, is Fresh Tracks, which helps to avoid engaging. Another idea is Terrible to Behold, at least for sideboarding vs scenarios which force you to engage enemies by adventure-effects etc.

@Taurelin Thanks for the thoughts. And yes I can see where you’re coming from with potential anti synergy. But I found it almost works like two different layers for enemies to get through. Most enemies don’t make it to actually being able to attack me because they’re either dying in the staging area with Eomer or Aragorn is finishing them off. It actually has been working out pretty well especially in terms of the goal of this deck is “never” having enemies make attacks against me (obviously that doesn’t always happen but that’s the idea)

(As a side note, i actually published a revised edition of this deck with some changes that I like better so you could also take a look at that. Sorry I know...a bit confusing)

Rosie is in there strictly for a cheap 2 willpower character that I can afford easily with my abundant Leadership resources (from Stewart of Gondor)

So I had completely forgot about Fresh Tracks but wow, I like that card a lot and think it would fit well into this deck. Not sure what I’ll pull out but yeah i think it could be a valuable card for sure. Thanks for pointing that out for me!
