Rimogard 283

Rimogard has a newer deck inspired by this one: The Lonely Mountain Alliance

I couldn't sleep so what to do? Try to take all over the world? No, Pinky, it's time for our beloved card game!

I've been thinking for a while now how to create a thematic deck that describes the generally good relationship between Erebor and Dale. Well, here are my thoughts on the deck itself:

 • I need all the resources I can, but I was reluctant to include Steward of Gondor. For that purpose, my options are: Necklace of Girion, Gloin (though I'm not sure I'll trigger his ability), Traffic from Dale. I've put a couple copies of Boots of Erebor to increase my chance of gaining more resources from all the trafficking.

 • King Under the Mountain, Brand, and Gandalf can give card draw if needed, but if the tale of my deck is good enough I should be able to live without that much card draw, hopefully.

 • The Guardians of Esgaroth are probably the most important Dale characters in this deck, because they are quite cheap and can reach 4 willpower thanks to Brand, the helm, and the mail. The Knights of Dale mainly probably hope that "the narrator will tell a very good tale". The Sentries are generally good and can use both the helm and the mail for free, and can provide good defensive support.

 • Willpower shouldn't be an issue thanks to the general effects of Brand and Dain.

 • To me! O my kinsfolk! is a card I just want to play for fun. There should be enough dwarves in the discard pile anyway thanks to King Under the Mountain and A Very Good Tale.

 • A Very Good Tale, A Very Good Tale, A Very Good Tale...

In summary, let's hope that the future tale of this deck won't be as mediocre as I fear it could be. Fingers crossed!

Intriguing deck. I may have to just give it a spin. You seem to have a good mix here.

nice deck. i would reduce gimli and glin by 1 an add 2 or 2 (or 1 of both)

additional, with monoleadership and sneak-attack tome of Atanator is mandatory i would replace it with at least 1 "to me"

@Raiderjakk Thanks! Give it a try and let me know if it worked for you. By the way, @doomguard's suggestions are spot on! I don't know how I forgot about the Tome and Strength of Arms.

@Rimogard - Any recommended quests?

u can try almost every quest. anduin is perhaps a little bit risky because of the 30 starting thread.

try the new ones, means the rhovanion box. with little optimising it could do about 50 % i think

@Raiderjakk I'll probably try the quests from the On the Doorstep box, for thematic reasons, but you can choose whatever quest you like. The Rhovanion quests are a good choice as well as proposed by @doomguard. Although the deck's threat is 30, maybe it can even beat the Hill Troll in a few turns in Journey Down the Anduin, but it's risky.
