This has to be one of the most underrated cards from the core set.

It is so versatile. If you are using the classic sneak attack & beorn/gandalf combo, I would highly recommend that you throw this in to your deck. Sneak either of them in during combat. With Gandalf, you can defend for 4 , ready using Ever Vigilant and attack back for 4 . With Beorn you can get 2 big attacks out of him before he runs off.

It is also phenomenal with Faramir as his ability isn't restricted to once per phase and so you can add 2 or more to each questing character!

I used to use ever vigilant a lot. Then I realized it was more efficient to include more cards that did whatever ally I was readying did. It's still not bad, especially on Faramir for a monster quest boost or a utility ally, but I wouldn't put in many decks.

Ever Vigilant is not a bad card and from time to time comes very handy, so when there is still space in my deck, when all must have cards are in, I'll add a pair. The artwork could be less dark, so the drawing could be more visible. Otherwise ok. Verdict: 3/5.

There are only a limited number of ways to ready allies, which means the somewhat over-costed Ever Vigilant still retains some playability. I very seldom run it, but have enjoyed it with Faramir in particular. And, as is the case with many subpar but cheap events, it regained some playability due to the release of Council of the Wise, both because it has added value there and because it might find a place since you need to run 50 different cards.
