I really love this iteration of Anborn; his cost is a bit high but he's high-utility, and that is what I love about the sphere...it doesn't excel at any one thing (except perhaps resource generation) but it has cards and effects that can benefit everyone. 3 attack is pretty great, and with both the Gondor and Ranger traits, his stats can be boosted a bit with various attachments. I think this version is a bit better than the Lore counterpart, though that one is also pretty good especially considering it's such an early one for the game.

The releases of Messenger of the King and Reckless Attack led (at least for me) to a sort of "renaissance" of direct damage decks and in extension of Anborn. He was always ok just for his stats and very useful ability (especially in direct damage decks), however the option to now run him as a reliable hero without overcoming his steep cost made him a very decent option for a number of decks, be they direct damage, Gondor or otherwise themed. That is all the more true since his engagement cost boosting is best early on where you often try to avoid enemies. Good ally, even better Messenger of the King.
