Quite good on Sam in a Hobbit deck. I've tried it in a more medium threat deck (starting at 28) and it wasn't useable often enough to feel worth including.

Extra characters. Extra characters. Extra characters

Not bad with Tom Cotton either — Quetzal513 101
Ally Halbarad pairs perfectly with this. — MrObsolete 55
Here's some more extra characters: it took me another four years to the fact that you can have a hero dual wielding these. Sam with two staves, Fast Hitch, Hobbit Cloak, maybe Protector of Lorien... can really be incredible — Quetzal513 101

This card is wonderful against high-threat bosses that engage through quest effects. The very best of those is Lonely Mountain -- Smaug has 50 threat, and his shadows can trigger re-attacks via keyword. But not if they're discarded first!

A card that was way higher on this list before the release of Gaffer Gamgee, who transformed Hobbits (for the most part) from an archetype where a sturdy defender was a liability that you could often get around with through attachments like Staff of Lebethron to an archetype that seldom defends at all, meaning this card got pushed out of a lot of decks for me. Repeatable shadow cancellation is still awesome and should not be undervalued, however repeatable attack prevention is even better. I do still like it with the likes of Tom Cotton and occasionally Sam Gamgee, but I rarely see it in decks anymore outside of that.
