I'll level with you, usually I only publish decks that are somewhat proven, but in this case, I have no idea if this thing is good. The idea is to do a bit of a modification of my old Galadriel Gets A Palantir deck, this time giving the Palantir to its rightful holder. Merry along with some other effects (Elrond's Counsel + Sneak Attack/Gandalf) should help to keep threat low. I've tried to rectify the low combat capabilities of my old Palantir deck by including Glorfindel, Fair and Perilous, Northern Trackers, and Gandalf. I heartbreakingly had to cut my 3 copies of Dunedain Mark at the last cut, which would have helped even more. Two usually terrible cards, Shadow of the Past and Minas Tirith Lampwright, shine with the Palantir, so don't scoff until you try them out! I designed this with solo in mind, but multiplayer should be an easy adaptation.

  • Blood of Numenor is a good addition if you are not averse to that card as I currently am! (Suggested by TipsyGamer)

Would it be worth trying to find room for a Blood of Numenor or two? It would make Denethor a pretty solid defender

@TipsyGamerTotally, I've only excluded it because I'm on a small personal strike from using Fire and Blood, because I think they are somewhat broken at the moment. But Blood could probably work here to make Denethor strong without being ridiculous. Good suggestion!

Oops, forgot Denethor has to exhaust for the Palantir... nevermind

Unexpected Courage is mainly meant for Denethor, so he could use Palantir and defend (also, he generally doesn't need to use the Palantir every round).

Palantir decks are seriously fun. Love it.

This is a really fun deck! I made a small change and added Gather Information and Erestor to replace 2 of the Rod of the Steward. My first attempt with this deck I never drew the Palantir (kinda defeats the purpose). The next game I once again did not get it, but drew the side quest. I fished the palantir out on turn 2. Thanks for sharing this!

Awesome, @TheChad. What quest did you play against? How did it go the game you drew the palantir?

I took it up against Journey Along the Anduin and this morning I tried Enconter at Amon Din. I had a great series of turns this morning, 3 enemies in a row were lined up in the encounter deck, the first one was Craven Eagle, which is really nasty. So, I Palantired for Enemy, drew 3 cards, I used Shadow of the past to put a location on top of the deck, I made sure not to clear it during questing. Next turn I palantired for enemy again for 3 cards, played a 2nd copy of Shadow of the past to put that enemy I had killed 2 turns ago on top of the deck, revealed and engaged it, and the eagle was now a harmless shadow card. I also used the Lampwright to cancel a double surge from happening. My ending threat was 26, had a ton of allies on the board, and a fistfull of cards. I know this is an easier quest, but it stomped it. I don't know if it can handle the worst quests, but it's fun to play.
