Lore: This deck follows the heroics of the Queen of Rohan (Eowyn, known outside the court simply as Strider) and her dearest companion, Dunhere—a male-born woman who finds freedom of expression away from the masculine world of the Rohirrim as her most true self, a shieldmaiden of Rohan.

Following the death of Theoden at the battle of the Six Hills—which was won by a flank of cavalry made up of shieldmaiden riders and led by Eowyn—both Eomer and Eomund abdicated the throne, making Eowyn queen.

Since then, Rohan has taken on a larger role in the wider world, though many don’t know it. Eowyn, or Strider, and her closest friend and head of her honor guard Dunhere, roam the lands of middle-earth on behalf of the White Council and the old kingdoms of elves, men, and dwarves of the land.

They often bring with them many warriors of the Eorlingas, and sometimes join forces with other valorous women and men of the world. In particular, Arwen of Rivendell and Boromir of Gondor have become bosom friends of Eowyn and Dunhere, and the two women rely on their elf and numenorian friends in many of their most difficult journeys.

These are the journeys of the Shieldmaidens of the West Road.

Custom Cards: https://share.icloud.com/photos/095lZNDr-qJ-HLSBhFQnHyZ-g -Arwen (Tactics Ally)x1 -Boromir (Spirit Ally)x1 -Hadhafang (Tactics Attachment) -Shieldmaiden of Rohan (Spirit Attachment)x3 -Friend of the Grasslands (Spirit Attachment)x2 -Children of the Plains (Spirit Event)x3

Custom rules (general): -begin game w/ 1 resource per hero. -begin game with a deck-locked hand of 7 cards -draw deck is split between card types, and so player draws cards from these separate piles according to preference (can mix and match, and Double Back does receive its own separate draw pile). -ignore “Restricted” item rules on item attachments, assuming restrictions only apply when it would make sense (for instance, no character can simultaneously ride two horses). A player may discard an attachment limited in number by common sense and replace it with a like type. -any time a non-unique attachment is restricted to “hero” treat it as if it said “hero or ally.”

Custom Rules (card specific): -Firefoot should read “Dunhere” instead of “Eomer.” -Guthlaf should read “If Boromir is” instead of “If there is at least 1 Gondor hero”. -Heragrim should read “Eowyn” instead of “Theoden.” -Horn of Gondor should read “Boromir” instead of “a hero.” As well, since Boromir is an Ally in this deck he gains a resource pool from this card which he may spend on cards of his sphere. -Raiment of War is treated as armor for purposes of determining common sense restriction. -The Favor of the Lady costs 1 -Astonishing Speed costs 2 -Ride Them Down costs 1 -Windfola costs 2 and should read, in addition to its current text: “Response: After attached hero quests successfully, ready attached hero.”

Opening hand: -Firefoot x1 -Golden Shield x1 -Resourceful x1 -Song of Travel x1 -Spear of the Mark x1 -Strider x1 -Windfola x1
