This is the first deck of my theme run through the Nightmare version of the Grey Havens set! I was inspired by an opening line from the Hobbit where Bilbo meets Gandalf while on his porch. Bilbo asked if Gandalf was the same individual who ran off with other hobbits on sailing adventures! So part of my deck building challenge for this cycle is to include at least one Gandalf and one hobbit in every deck. These hobbits do not represent the hobbits on the cards, but instead their ancestors who sailed with Gandalf. There are a couple of proxies in this deck. The one copy of Dunedain Pathfinder is actually Galion. And the three copies of The Favor of the Lady are actually three Silver Circlet.

Piloting the deck involves the goals of not engaging an enemy ship at all. You instead focus on sailing tests with your followers and questing with heroes. Sometimes you have to invert that formula to avoid you sailors being killed by a nasty nightmare card effect. The ships I use are Dream-Chaser and Dawn Star for the extra card draw to use with Cirdan's ability. Aim for an average sailing test of 4 in the beginning and then 5 through the rest of the game or 7 if you are blown off course.
