Holy smokes. Given my previous write up about grinding a Silvan deck to take down The Dunaland Trap I was keen to continue playing Silvan's. However this quest as a solo player was a real shocker. The final stage surprise of (spoilers) the three Guardians returning is real punch in the gut. So I returned to the drawing board and did a bunch of digging online for some alternative options. Thanks to those on the various forums and blogs for guiding these decisions. I often find as I'm still learning the game that even finding a hero composition that's proven to be viable is a great place to then attempt a deck build around...

This list an amalgamation of a few ideas I'd seen about approaching this quest solo. There are a slight increase in number of unique allies to accommodate for Curse of the Wild Men. Bofur also happens to be a good trigger for Prince Imrahil on turns where the quest amount doesn't matter as much but you need an emergency out to ready the Prince.

The main concept around this deck is to build around Steward of Gondor, Gondorian Fire, Unexpected Courage (all placed on Prince Imrahil) to defeat the three guardian's in the player attack phase when you transition to stage 3. That is to say your final stage 2 quest is The Trial of Strength so that upon defeat you have an opportunity to then swing into the 3 guardians that return to the table before the following turn. Eowyn is your primary quester in this deck.

Feint, Gondorian Discipline and the 1-2 cost chump blockers are to help sustain the heroes into the late game while Erestor, Gandalf, Ancient Mathom and Valiant Sacrifice help dig for the cards needed to close out the late game. 1 Dagger of Westernesse is enough on Eomer (though often you end up with 2) as a back up/hero that can kill the Spirit of the Wild.

Lastly as with most tri-colour decks at this stage of the games life I find Envoy of Pelargir invaluable. Occasionally you can start with Turn 1 Steward of Gondor.

This list was a lot of fun to explore and is really built on the backs of many content creators that have come before. I love how each quest forces me as a player to often return to deck building to explore the wider card pool. Can't wait to try the next quest in The Ringmaker Cycle (back to Silvan's I think).
