My first time using Spirit Aragorn. I really wanted to make a deck with him after seeing his potential with Leather Boots. This is also my first attempt at a deck relying heavily on Lore. I call this a Scout deck and tried to keep it to all Scout-traited characters. You could easily swap Ents in there.

The basic idea is location control in the staging area. Theres plenty of other little tricks too. For example, the side quests will help with Aragorn's ability and dual roles with Rider of Rohan. While this deck can be capable of combat its probably best used in a fellowship where combat can be handled elsewhere. However, one of the great goals of this deck is to get allies into play using Elf-stone. There is plenty of draw and I often find I have eveything I need early on the the game. There is hardly any shortage of location attachments. Resources are likely the biggest weakness.

Ideally Aragorn is boosted early on with buffs to his willpower. Getting a Necklace of Girion and Ring of Barahir on him early will almost ensure the decks role will sucessfully be fulfilled. Plus resources will not liely be an issue anymore. Use Thorongil on him for his Leadership version. This along with Leather Boots/Unexpected Courage will ensure you can quest and use his ability every turn. You can also use Lore Aragorn for threat reduction if your readying is fulfilled with UC and Leather Boots.

Haldan an was another hero I really liked. He can almost always stay readied with the location attachments. He is pretty good at combat in this deck.

Idraen is often readied through her ability with help from location control support. She's also not bad at combat. Plus, Leather boots can help her ready even whenocations arent explored. She will also benefit from a well-timed Mirkwood Explorer to clear a location in the combat phase.

MOTK Haleth was a strong consideration to help to Aragorn attachment/location attachment/trap engines. She also lowers your starting threat. However, she can easily be added for free as an ally through Elf-stone as does not care as well in combat. If this deck has support from another (combat focused) deck she can be easily exchanged with Idrean without second thoughts.

Seeing as this is my first shot at building a deck anything like this I'm really looking forward to feedback. Feel free to leave some!

i think this deck will soon be killed by enemys. it has a high startingthread and nearly none defenseoptions.

6 startingwillpower seems to few to use idraen and then no character to defend at thread of 33?

you said combat should be taken elsewhere. why then attackforce of 9 with the heroes?

  1. with this high thread it is very unlikely to have combat elsewhere
  2. if the mainpart should be questing and locationcontrol, reduce startingthread and increase willpower. e.g. with arwen instead of idraen. perhaps motk arwen, then u can support defense from the start

further: having haldan is nice, but only 4 locationattachements? then u do not need him. its not uncommen that u never see a locationattachment the whole game....

i think its not doable, to get the benefits of full locationcontrol from lore and spirit. concentrate on one and make one thing good except of two thinks less than half-good.

go more the spiritway, perhaps this could be an inspiration: ringsdb.com (a locationcontrol without pathfinder seems not very optimal for me)

or go full the woodsman-way. perhaps with motk haleth and haldan. i would recommand at least 1/3 locationattachements when playing haldan and woodman. and then is no room for aragornshenanigans and for the high thread he brings to the table (haldan, motk haleth and a spiritsscout or arwen could do the task).

sorry for the critical words, but u asked for feedback ;)

@doomguard yes you are probably right. And I do not see your words as insulting - I know you like to add realistic advice. The starting threat is surely high. You make a good about about using beefy characters with little intention of dealing damage. I will try to find another spirit or lore scout hero to lower the threat. Ive used MotK Haleth and she works well too. More options may be Firyal or Haleth.

I will say the deck is capable of handling more combat than I give it credit for. It also has plenty of location attachments because the drawing is so high. I have never jad a game where I didn't have one location attachment each round.

Still, your main point about starying threat is the biggeat downfall. I'll have to reconfigure and get it lowered.

Perhaps my biggest downfall (and greatest joy) as a deck builder is theme and sticking to traits. I just love the idea of a band of heroes and allies with the same traits as if they fulfill a specific role in the larger scheme of things. One of these days I'll need to break away from that though. It would sure make this deck better.

Thabks for the feedback!
