Though here at journey's end I lie,

In darkness buried deep,

Beyond all towers strong and high,

Beyond all mountains steep,

Above all shadows rides the Sun

And Stars forever dwell:

I will not say the day is done,

Nor bid the Stars farewell.

Vital words of Sam's to keep in mind during this troubling year. However dark things may be, we have to hold out hope that they can get better. Denethor's greatest failing was, as you said, his narcissism causing him to despair. We don't know for sure that our own Banner of Elendil won't fly from the oncoming Corsair fleet, and so we hold on and hope, clinging to the knowledge that nothing in life's over until it's over.

Aiya Earendil, elenion ancalima, Gil-Estel!

I haven't read the blog yet, but I can really appreciate the decklist! MotK Haleth has sure been an MVP lately. Using her for trap-searching is a wonderful idea. Trap decks usually need a dedicated quester anyways so the synergy is great. I really like the use of Imrahil for Proud Hunters also snatching the Gondor tanks. Great deck-thinning (for both Haleth and Imrahil) and also thematic. A heart and a star for me.

I’m glad you like the list, @Uruk-guy. It’s a especially appropriate for this deck that the timestamp for your comment is 2021. It’s like you’re responding from the future.

@Beornhaha I guess 2021 is odd already! I suppose this is what looking through a Palantir is like? Or are we "trapped" in 2020?

Why does Haleth only have 8 Threat?

Jan 01, 2021 Truck 1409

@MelinaPerez Whaaaaaat?! Good eye, but Whaaaaaaaat?! Mistake, I guess.

@Beorn I have been wanting a good TRAP deck I think this is the one!

Cheers @Beorn, and thanks for the write-up. Here's to a 'better normal'.

@MelinaPerez Haleth only has 8 threat because that's the sum of her stats. RingsDB has her stats wrong--her HP is actually 3. They still got her threat right, though.

happy new year!

Thanks Autumn Rose for explaining!

great deck, but why denethor in this deck? The only reason i see it is you could you fetch him with prince's ability to block an attack, but then you could play a third defender of rammas instead?

@serre From the blog: "Pedants will doubtless question the inclusion of Denethor in this deck list. At best, Gondor’s hapless steward is no better than any other ally to be mustered by his short-lived successor (bit of a thematic chicken-or-the-egg paradox, that). Other times, he sits like a dead fish in your hand, wanting desperately to be anyone else. Anyone who could actually help quell the tide of evil building outside the walls. At worst he destroys himself instantly in an immolation of hubristic nihilism. I simply cannot think of a more fitting mascot for this year than a paranoid but ineffectual leader whose ultimate undoing is his own narcissism."
