I think that one of the coolest uses for the new Spring the Trap card is the possibility to slot Rangers of any sphere even in a mono lore deck. This deck tries to show off that concept. Between Beravor and Damrod card draw is plenty so I felt confortable going over the 50 cards limit.

This is an interesting card. It is basically "Response: If a weak enemy comes out of the encounter deck, and you don't want your amazing trap like Entangling Nets attached to such a wimp, don't attach it to the sniveling monstrosity. Also if you are using Damrod, you still get a card, and you can trigger Celador's effect. And you can still play Spring the Trap, as well." Hey, the art and quote are good too. |
Apr 23, 2021Yeah it's basically for when a trap gets attached to an enemy which is easy to deal with. But you can also do something like this. You have an enemy engaged play any trap in the staging area then Mablung/Guardian of Ithilien and trigger all the Response for when a trap attaches, play It Should Be Spared and leave the trap waiting an enemy revelead from the encounter deck (or to reduce the threat in staging area by 1 with Celador (not optimal if the trap played was Ranger Spikes). |
Mar 22, 2024If a trap attaches to an enemy and I have Scroll of Isildur on the table, can I use it to play Spring the Trap from my discard?. I am of the feeling I can. Thanks |
Mar 22, 2024Unfortunately not, triggering the Scroll is an Action, so it can't be combined with any Response events. |
I'm trying to think of scenarios of when to use It Should Be Spared but I'm drawing a blank. Are you using it for extra card draw or maybe to get a trap off of an enemy that's easy to deal with?
