This is a really fun update to the dwarven mining mechanic for solo or fellowship play.

The deck flies through cards and sets up really fast. Combination of Gandalf, well equipped, hidden cache, wizard pipe and erebor toymaker can get the attachments out fast!

Ultimately you'll have:

• Dain defending for 6-9 with multiple readies and ability to heal 2 per round allows dain to take over all of the defense for solo or 2p
• Thorin is swinging for 6 plus dealing direct damage AND you can have azain attach the same weapons to swing for 5 AND do a ton of direct damage! Add on the goblin cleaver and khazad khazad and these two dwarves can dominate all of the combat for solo or 2p.
• Questing is the one weakness of the deck starting pretty low at 3-6 will power. It eventually picks up and you can sideboard in ethir swordsman to ramp up quicker.

Tech

• ered luin miner served as a good chumper if needed and you can add in horse breeders for more chumping and quicker access to shadowfax
• thrors key solves the X location from the ered cycle that can wreck you
• power of orthanc covers the weighted down condition (in conjunction with test of will)
• free to choose helps manage some high threat encounter cards (the ones that add 1 threat per resource removed or per ally you control that quests)

I used to hate quests that cause you to discard your deck and lose cards. This dwarven mining discard mechanic is really strong and fun and turns that all around!

I played this through all of Ered Mithrin solo except for Ghost of Framsburg and final quest of the cycle. I added in a 2p fellowship with support deck of Thurindir, MOTK Firyal and Spirit Glorfindel deck for the fire in the night scenario. I also tried a Grimbeorn master ring deck that had both inner strength and strength and courage and then used leadership frodo and spirit merry in a three hunters deck to eat up the threat gains from Grimbeorn. But mostly this mining deck was used solo.
