This is a deck I used in a two-handed campaign to play through the quests in the Black Riders saga expansion as well as the POD quests The Old Forest and Fog on the Barrow-Downs. Some card choices, as well as the overall deck strategy, were made for thematic reasons. More on this in the fellowship write-up.
This is a well-known deck strategy using tri-sphere hobbits to set up a turn so that you can take down a rather large enemy (Nazgul) in one round. The goal is to either have Sam with buffed defense from his ability, Hobbit Cloak, and Staff of Lebrethon take on defensive duties for a round, or use Barliman Butterbur, Mablung, or Bill the Pony as sacrificial lambs if the enemy/scenario allows it. Then, Merry with some Daggers of Westernesse and/or Unseen Strike and possibly other allies or Sam can provide enough attacking power to take down the enemy. This strategy prefers occasional, big enemies rather than constant, smaller enemies, which is perfect for most of the scenarios in the Black Riders box.
The other aspect of this deck is getting out large allies with Elf-stone. Beorn, Gildor, Anborn, or Halbarad are the main targets. Although, letting the counterpart deck get out a free Northern Tracker, Galadriel, Faramir, or Gandalf is also good. A glaring omission given this strategy is Sneak Attack + Gandalf, but that was left out due to the counterpart deck being able to get so much value out of Sneak Attack + Galadriel. If I had 6x Sneak Attack available to me, that would have been in here.
The weakness of this deck is the over-dependence on Lore resources and relative lack of use of Leadership resources. Errand-rider is meant to help with that but there were some games where this just didn't happen. In those cases, you can sometimes end up just paying for Anborn or Halbarad outright.
This deck and its counterpart were able to complete the saga quests after these numbers of attempts:
A Shadow of the Past: 3
The Old Forest: 1
Fog on the Barrow-Downs: 1
A Knife in the Dark: 4
Flight to the Ford: 1 (I was extremely fortunate with the cards on this one)
