Here is a thematic deck that could have excisted in the First Age. There are only thematicly possible cards, so not even Narya or Arwen are viable. It is actually a fairly strong deck! The Sideboard includes several nods to the Elder Days, here a few suggestions for the deck:
-
Mulligan either for Unexpected Courage or for Light of Valinor. The former goes on Treebeard, the latter on Elrond for you need a dedicated defender.
-
Healing should not be a Problem, the third Self Preservation should normally go on Elrond.
- Use and abuse Glorfindel, Cirdan and the Caregiver with Elven-Light to draw cards, with Elwings Flight to quest hard and ready your heroes which are strong for questing and combat, or with The Evening Start to get a hang on these bloody locations.
And, as always, Enjoy!!

Aug 25, 2016There is a crazy amount of healing! I'ts not so much the extra damage shadows that I'm worried about as the ones that get rid of attachments or cause extra attacks or do some other annoying thing. Those are usually rare enough that maybe a few hasty strokes would cover it, depending on the scenario, but I agree, in a scenario where the worst you're likely to see is something like +2 attack, it doesn't really matter. |
Aug 25, 2016Threat could be an issue in some cases, yes, but then include some Favour of the Valar or sth about attachments...pretty much everything is a 3 of so I hope you would be covered there. True, Hasty Stroke wouldn't be unthematic, but I am to be honest tired of it ... I just find the other stuff more interesting :p. But you can always include them, their powerlevel is undisputed I think! |
Nice deck! I'd toss in some burning brands to help out Elrond though. The first age may be earlier than the rings of power, but I'm pretty sure they had fire!
