I believe the title says it all: the goal is to get Forlong as beefy as possible and readying every phase. in the course of this ALL your Outlands become beefy, but that readying has got to have some potential... right?
Sword Thain is there to make Forlong a hero so he can do hero stuff with the big boys.
You want to have a big first turn. Yuge. get those Timely Aids in your opening hand, sneak attack Gandalf as needed. Once you have a kernel of allies use A Very Good Tale to double down and get some more. You don't want Forlong to lose his super powers right? Because then... well, you know. I don't know.
