FingolfinFate 15

FingolfinFate has a newer deck inspired by this one: Fellowship

The Gandalf-Beravor combo is amazing for card draw and sifting through the deck. It took me years to realize Gandalf’s potential in this regard, trying to make sure that I can play a card from the top of the deck as often as possible (within reason). I don’t usually auto-include cards, like Steward or Runes, but here Daeron’s Runes are so much fun from the top of the deck outside of planning. The Fellowship contract is my favourite. And even though there are only 14 slots devoted to allies in this deck, it doesn’t take long to flip the contract. My favourite quests are mostly from the LotR saga boxes, and there I often flip the contract within three rounds. One needs a bit of practice playing the contract, it is not just about flipping it and never looking back. Wilyador and Bilbo usually are not there to stay but they are great opening cards and the other allies are just great, usually picking two out of Henamarth, Ioreth or Súlien, given what’s required in a quest. Boromir is the primary defender, and if you keep Gandalf’s Staff for discarding shadow cards, combat quickly becomes much easier with the two. I also like boosting hit points with Spare Pipe (almost guaranteeing an event) and Raiment for either Boromir or Glorfindel who can be a secondary great defender or just take undefended damage (with 6 to 8 hit points usually). Charge into Battle is situational but very satisfying when played. Small tip: never hesitate to use Beravor for card draw early, you might not need it anymore after five rounds or so, and use Wizard Pipe or even Gildor Inglorion to make sure an event is on top outside of planning.
