This is the main deck I'm playing through the saga with. I sacrificed pippin early on to the Balrog and for some reason decided to play the rest of this thing out with Folco. Cuz like, what if, ya know? What if. Nah, it was mostly just for continued access to Lore and the hobbit trait. At first at least. Now it's become kind of like a Mandela effect thing, and i'm pretty sure there never even was a character named pippin. It was always just Boffin. I mean wasn't it? Pretty sure.
Anyways, what's fun about this deck is:
A. just the idea of Grimbeorn having to hang out with these little guys the whole way, handling all the enemies himself -which he can- . Evokes great middle earth Kindergarten Cop energy.
B. Getting to crown Grimbeorn an honorary gondorian with steward, and then decking him out with armor and giving him a huge battle axe.
C. Folco only costs FOUR threat in this deck, and you can discard him at some point to subtract SEVEN. So Secrecy is the pretty obvious direction, but instead of going that route I decided that also buys you a hellofa lot of time to just toss out Over the Hill Gandalf and leave him in play for numerous consecutive turns in hyper low-threat, as just this towering non-exhausting powerhouse to help carry most of your early and/or middle game for you. It's absurd, but fun, and it is the Boffin's Path.
