This is the deck I built for tackling the next phase of my campaign, this time facing down the Land of Shadow box. It's designed to straddle between theme and power, and it won each quest on the first try.
I had never before really used any of the fellowship cards, so it was fun to see how powerful Frodo's Intuition was in a 4-hobbit deck. Man alive, was it amazing. Speak your Promise is less amazing, though still good to get a few extra actions.
Hobbit decks without Spirit often suffer with the threat raising above the engagement cost of enemies and treachery cancel, particularly direct damage. Halfling Bounder is a great and thematic answer, though it required side quests. I thought The Storm Comes would be a good one to try, since it gives you another outlet for your fellowship resources and helps with resource smoothing in the tai-sphere deck. It was, actually, quite great. Prepare for Battle was also really, really nice in the Shelob quest: since in that stage one you don't need progress on the main quest, I was able to find them both and get the effects in play right off the bat.
Cards that underperformed included Take No Notice, which I would cut for a second Halbarad and maybe another Wait No Longer. Seriously--that card is FANTASTIC in solo, especially solo hobbits. You get to draw, buff Sam, and have perfect information for questing....sign me up! In conjunction with Andrath Guardsman....yep. It was fantastic.
I would be happy to hear suggestions or questions on particular decisions! Bear in mind this is a fourth deck built from my collection, so it lacks cards like Very Good Tale and Sneak Attack since they're in my Gondor deck, for example. I also don't have 5 of the Stormcaller cycle packs, so I'm not sure if there are any good options in there. I would be happy to hear about them if there are!
I'd like to hear how this deck makes it through the second scenario of Land of Shadow. Any tips on what you are looking for in your first turn?
