This deck is meant to be played as a fellowship with the corresponding "companions" deck. Most of the low cost allies are for use as chump blockers against the Balrog in the late stages of the game.
Longbeard Orc Slayer is included for use with Sneak Attack to apply direct damage to orcs and to help in combat. The two ent cards are not high in importance, but getting Ent Draught, Ring Mail, Hobbit Cloak and a couple of Dúnedain Warning attachments on Sam Gamgee will allow him to defend a Balrog attack, especially when Bill the Pony and Rosie Cotton are in play.
If you can get Fellowship of the Ring on Frodo Baggins early, it will help expedite progress through the first stage or two, and hopefully clear out a location during the final quest stage prior to losing chumps to the Balrog.
