Galadantien 8

One of a personal collection of decks I’ve built both physically and digitally striving to make the most powerful but still thematic combinations I could with my entire card pool – primarily tested for two player (or two handed) matches.

Starting Hand (Mulligan For): Steward of Gondor is “a must” to get early, because Amarthiul is acting as your leadership and tactics hero. Legacy of Numenor and Deep Knowledge are both great early too. You provide great utility to the table with them. Best to take first player round 1, as you are the combat deck, so your partners all get the benefit from the extra cards and resources on round 1. Desperate Alliance + Aragorn let’s you rescue their threat later. Beregond does a lot of heavy lifting here. So his toys are good early draws – Gondorian Shield, destrier, courage, etc.

Resource Gen & Card Draw: Resources – Steward, Legacy, nuff said. Draw is important here, and largely down to Gandalf and Sarn Ford Sentry – with Sneak attack there to activate either more easily. Beregond handles a lot, so you don’t need to go through a lot of allies.

Questing: Is the weakest element of this deck. Journeyman allows you to contribute enough to push any good questing partner to where they need to be against most scenarios. But if there aren’t regular enemies coming out, you’re going to feel useless, and your partner under pressure. You may end up questing Aragorn and Amarthiul a lot (for a measly 3 willpower) at times to avoid location locks. Wait No Longer is a great utility therefore because it means one less card adding threat that round.

Combat: Thankfully Beregond lets you juggle 2-3 enemies easily even if you’re not killing them. That includes ones engaged with other players. Dunedain want to keep enemies engaged for their abilities, and you’ll always want a minimum of one. Forest Snare makes that much easier, and Song of Wisdom makes plays like this more consistent.

Partners (Fellowships): Overall this deck is a very powerful combat deck and my go-to in many cases. It needs a partner capable of throwing out 20 or more willpower a round by round 4, maybe higher, however if the scenario is location heavy. So I find it works well with a BOF Hobbit deck, Noldor, or a swarm archetype like Dwarves or Vilya.

Sideboard: Heir is a substitute for Steward if someone else in the Fellowship needs it more.
