__In the days when Dol Guldur still cast its shadow, Orcs and wolves came against the Vales of Anduin. Then Beorn rose in wrath, and Grimbeorn his son stood beside him with the wardens. Radagast the Brown came also, and with him the Eagles of the North.
Upon the banks of the Anduin they smote the hosts of the Enemy. Beorn broke their ranks in his might, Grimbeorn wrought great ruin among them, and the Eagles bore their foes screaming into the river. Radagast called upon bird and beast, and the land itself rose against the Shadow.
So were the Vale and its folk preserved, and long it was said among them: when darkness marched, the wild rose to meet it.__
