This is an attempt at a post-Boromir errata deck. The goal isn't really to maximize Boromir's readying to the fullest, although I did throw in a couple of copies of Spare Hood and Cloak, which are a great use of the fact that Boromir's limit is once per phase, rather than once per round. The main goal is just to use Boromir as a super effective defender and attacker. The setup is fairly simple:

  • Eowyn continuously discards Elven-light to become a 5 willpower quester and then pulls it back for card draw. This is a remarkably effective card draw engine, and Foe-hammer supplements it. Sailor of Lune is a good choice since an event will usually be the top card of the deck during questing.
  • With Captain of Gondor, Arwen, Gondorian Shield, and the Honour Guards, Boromir is a superb defender.
  • Threat reduction is plentiful with the Handmaidens, Eldrond's Counsel, and Double Back. I've included the Riders of Rohan once again to take advantage of Double Back because I'm addicted to that combo (and I've added in Gather Information to increase the likelihood of activating the Riders).
  • Blade of Gondolin helps to add progress and trigger Foe-hammer. Keep in mind that I designed this deck specifically for Dungeons of Cirith Gurat, which includes a lot of Orc enemies.

That's about it. This deck is pretty simple but remarkably effective. Note that I've intentionally left out Gondorian Fire/Blood of Numenor because I don't find those cards fun.

Enjoy!

Simple and elegant, like so many of the best things.

I’m right there with you in the Rider of Rohan fan club. Once you have a side quest in the victory display, they are super efficient. The Sailor of Lune + Elven-light combo is a nice touch as well. Many strong synergies in this deck.

Can you explain what Bilbo adds to this deck? I'm not seeing it. Thanks.

@SfrugI am guessing his willpower and 2 hitpoints. He is a 2 cost, 2 willpower ally that can take a 'deal one damage' treachery without dying.

@SfrugChad has the right of it. When building the deck, I was trying to protect it against treacheries that deal damage against questing allies, so I picked ones like Bilbo, Rider of Rohan, and Sailor of Lune that had 2 willpower but also 2 hit points.
