I am brand new to game, beat "Passage Through Mirkwood" and now want to move on to "Journey Along the Anduin." I have only one core set. I see your deck calls for multiples of many cards that I don't have. I plan to get deeper into the game and buy more. Would you suggest I go ahead and get a second core deck now? Is it generally a good idea to have 2 core sets if you plan to move into the other boxes?

If you like the game and plan to buy and keep playing the adventure packs, then yes I would suggest getting a second core set.
