Elessar010 has a newer deck inspired by this one: Hobbits - Thematic A Shadow of the Past

This is the final version of the Hobbits deck I used for my first play of The Black Riders. This was meant to be entirely thematic to this point in the book. There are some cards that were a reach for this point, like Protector of Lorien, Winged Guardian, and Henamarth Riversong. Steward of Gondor was the least thematic card, and honestly, I never really needed it. The games where I managed to get it attached, I only used for a single-turn huge ally rush from Tactics to get Winged Guardians and Farmer Maggot into play for the final turn of Flight to the Ford.

Dunedain Watcher and Son of Arnor are my representations of Aragorn for this deck as they meet him in Bree. Watcher was always another 1 Willpower for a quest, then used when needed to cancel a shadow effect. Son of Arnor is invaluable for A Knife in the Dark.

I generally always needed to see a Hobbit Cloak, Fast Hitch, and/or a Dagger of Westernesse in my opening hand. Sam Gamgee was the jack of all trades, with a Fast Hitch, sometimes a Dagger, always a Hobbit Cloak, and sometimes Ring Mail, he really took the lead in both questing and defending. Merry was always boosted for attack, and Pippin only quested and really, received treacheries like Black Breath. His card draw and the +4 to Engagement Cost, however, were really essential.

I'm moving on to The Road Darkens and will definitely change up the deck to represent the Fellowship as a whole for that section of the saga!
