Built to play the Against the Shadow cycle, with the card pool available up to that cycle. I like playing this way, to get the experience as it was designed at the time.
My starting point was that I feel every deck against this cycle needs a 4+ defender. In this deck, that’s Denethor with Dúnedain Warning. Next the defender needs safety from shadow effects, that’s Burning Brand. Master of the Forge collects those attachments, so with him in the deck I started adding more.
Asfaloth is a great attachment to add, so that gave me my second hero choice in Glorfindel. I took Lorefindel to be able to play MotF T1 and to reach for more expensive Lore allies to play Burning Brand on, that’s Gildor and Haldir.
Next I needed a Leadership hero to pay for the Warning. I went with Aragorn for his stats, as I also think you want two 3-attack heroes for this cycle.
SoG also came in to pay for everything and in this deck I get the thematic satisfaction of playing it on Denethor.
Some traps, staple allies and Sneak Attack Gandalf rounds out the deck.
