11 - The Redhorn Gate (Progression Series)


This is another fellowship continuing on in my goal to play through all of the quests in release order to learn how all (or most) of the cards interact with one another. The first fellowship for the quests in the core set can be found here, and it contains a slightly more detailed overview of what I'm going for with building these decks. As always, any feedback is appreciated so that I can continue to learn more!

This is the fourth quest in a row where I end up abusing Dain's ability, but giving all Dwarves the extra willpower really makes the third stage of this quest doable (especially when using Untroubled by Darkness). All in all, these decks are pretty standard fare. I have a few low/no willpower allies in each deck to use as chump blockers if trolls and wargs cause too many issues, and a trusty Gimli + Citadel Plate + Dwarrowdelf Axe can clean up the mess when they do engage. Arwen generates plenty of extra resources, and having two Spirit heroes in the questing deck allowed for tons of willpower on the board and let me make sure I could pretty much always save a resource for Dwarven Tomb.

By virtue of using Dwarves for pretty much everything, there aren't any particularly interesting card interactions going on in either of these decks, but it was still fairly fun. Unfortunately, Bofur was the only new card that I included from that actual adventure pack itself. Most others seemed fairly situational, but I'll definitely try to work them in when I can think of a good way to use them.
