Expedition to Moria

Description

Progression style for Khazad-dûm scenarios.

This expedition was successful on all of the three scenarios from the Khazad-dûm box on the first try.

Glóin had a hard time: On the expedition's way through the Seventh Level, some Gondorian Spearman got distracted by a pile of Undisturbed Bones. So, the Goblins that he was supposed to guard the expedition's leaders from attacked undefended and Glóin went down. (He shared this very fate with Bifur, who relied on the very same minion a few turns later only to be let down.) When the group realized that there were no more dwarves left alive and decided to leave the mines, it was Glóin who rushed ahead -- only to fall into the shadows when a Sudden Pitfall opened under his boots. The Flight from Moria balanced on a knife's edge, then. Finally, they found an Escape from Darkness. In a final and desperate rush and with the help of some Abandoned Tools, the expedition stumbled through a narrow breach and eagerly filled their lungs with fresh air.

When I built these decks, I tried to include as much dwarves as possible with the given card pool. And I just didn't have the guts to include any eagles. Keen-eyed Took together with Gléowine and Gildor Inglorion offers some nice options to adapt to a given board state. In the first scenario I soon learned that I had even less control on combat engagement. With the Dúnedain Signal I had hoped to get some flexibility in defense to compensate for this, but I never saw a copy of that card.

Nice write up. Cant say i seen many keen eye took cards in play. Do you exhaust gildor then exhaust gleowine and finally play keen took? Is that how it works

I usually play Keen-eyed Took whenever I have the resources to do so. Seeing the next cards to come is never a bad thing. Then, it depends on the situation. In general, I found it very useful to have some means to rearrange at least one player deck with Gildor Inglorion, get rid of unwanted cards with the Took, and put Gléowine to use where it benefits the most (after revealing the top cards with the Took).
