Tubarush has a newer deck inspired by this one: Thematic "Journey In The Dark" - Quest/Buff deck
This is my deck for The Ring Goes South in my Thematic Saga run.
Huge changes here. For the Black Riders quests, a lot was included that represented other characters doing their thing in the background as opposed to being directly engaged with the 4 Hobbits --- Gandalf away, Aragorn and Dunedain protecting the lands, Hobbits at home, etc.
This deck is more directly thematic and uses only allies and heroes as described in the books. So the ally count is really low.
Buff up Sam with Hobbit Cloak, Staff of Lebethron and Fast Hitch. Get the Dagger of Westernesses on Merry. I also put the Boon, Sting on Sam as soon as I could.
I also continued to use the Black Riders version of Frodo.
