As an experienced player, I wanted to try the hardest aspect of this game —Nightmares. We with my friend intended to make such decks which can beat almost any Nightmare scenario.
This is the first deck of our fellowship. Deck uses pretty common combination of Gandalf and Elrond with Vilya. Unlike decks using Glorfindel the third hero here is Merry. I found Merry VERY useful in this deck. He can lower threat, which is useful in NM where many enemies has 3-4+ threat. I often finish game with lower threat than my starting. He can quest for 2. And he can be targeted by some nasty effects and Conditions which punish hero using. Even if Merry is disabled the deck doesn't lose it's playability. Another advantage compared to Glor — you don't need Light of Valinor in your starting hand. The only key card here is Vilya. If you have Vilya in starting hand you don't need mulligan despite other cards.
Another key thing in our fellowship is that second deck (http://ringsdb.com/deck/view/8715) has powerful defender which can buy me some time to build powerhouse with Vilya and allies.
