I got inspired to use Fatty Bolger after seeing him used in the "Epic Elevenses" COTR video. I used to use Fatty quite a lot before I filled out my collection, but haven't used him in quite some time at this point. I decided to use him in a pipe deck since threat is going to be a major issue if you use Fatty's ability often. Also, the deck wasn't intended to be a Fellowship deck, there just weren't any non-unique allies in the deck so I put the contract in.

While looking through cards that worked with Fatty, Sam Gamgee seemed like the best use: not only would Fatty cancel an enemy's threat, but he would ready and boost Sam.

This deck is best in a quest with a lot of orc enemies so Elladan and Elrohir can ready and serve double duty questing and fighting.

Mulligan for Resourceful, Sam, or Bilbo Baggins to try to get moving as quickly as possible. This deck is a little slow, but it starts at a low enough threat that you usually have enough time to get established.

To make sure threat wasn't too big of a hindrance, I tested the deck against Intruders in Chetwood. I won in 5 rounds at 33 threat after defeating 2 Orc War Parties.

Yeah, Fatty isn't the strongest of heroes, but he fills a niche in enemy-heavy quests if you don't mind a little threat gain: he's a repeatable Radagast's Cunning.

Cheers

would add 1 gleowine and 1-2 elvenlight. you have runes, song of healing and glorfindel for discarding.

would cut 1 robin and firyal for that. consider to include treebeard (for 1 sam)

I'm having a lot of fun with this deck. I made a few of the changes that @doomguard recommended and I think it runs a bit smoother. I find that I generate a ton of resources and do wish there was some kind of resource sink in this deck. Any ideas?

Thanks, @doomguard - Gleowine is an ally I considered, but got cut at some point: trading him for Robin is probably better. I did overlook elven-light, so I'll have to try it.

@wkufan89I'm glad you're enjoying the deck: since the deck is kind of Noldor/Discard, Lords of the Eldar might make a good resource sink, but I'd have to try it out. I'm not really sure what else to do except possibly play the deck multiplayer with Bifur in the other deck to transfer resources, except playing higher cost allies, but that would make the deck struggle in the early game.

That's what I have off the top of my head, but I'll experiment a little next time I play and see if I'm missing something obvious.

@much money: elvenlight cost if you use it.

if you pile much money, you could include keen as lances. it triggers the hobbitpipes too if you choose thread reduction, but cards are good too.

another possibility where warden of healing. they can heal more if you have to much money

another idea is to reduce the elvenbrothers and take more elvenallies in. e.g. navigator and lune sailor, then if you include lords of the eldar it is more effective.

After making some changes, here is the version I've settled with: ringsdb.com It seems to play a bit better.

now give frodo the ring, and with inner strength you can even try hard battles, like carn dum. (perhaps ;) )

I'm with @wkufan89, this deck is a lot of fun to play! As a Fatty fan myself, it was great to see him shine in this deck.
