Thematic Saga Series: Deck 10

Helm's Deep

Series Overview

Welcome to the Thematic Saga Series, where I will be taking the most thematic decks possible against a modified Saga Campaign, on DragnCards. Here are the rules for this Campaign:

1: Your decks must be as accurate as possible to the books. So in A Shadow of the Past's case, because it takes place in the Shire, I will only be using Hobbit allies.

2: I am allowed to change heroes to fit the theme and I will not be incurring the +1 threat penalty while swapping heroes this way. For example, if I used an ally version of Legolas or Gimli in The Breaking of the Fellowship, I could swap heroes so I can us them as heroes in The Uruk-Hai.

I follow the rest of the rules for a standard Campaign.

The Theme

Forth, Eorlingas! That is probably my favorite thing to say ever (:

Theme! Glorious theme! Most of this deck is very thematic, all that I think isn't thematic in this deck is that Éomer had two horses.

A Lesson in Caution might not seem thematic, but Gimli could tell Éomer otherwise.

Game Notes

I have a love-hate relationship with this scenario.

I mean its great, unique, thematic, and downright annoying at times. I'll tell you one thing: Location lock is no fun!

I got Snowmane early, along with [Gandalf's Staff](/card/142008 and 2x Escort from Edoras), so I was able to quest decently for the first couple of rounds. After that things got rough. Shadowfax did end up coming out at around round 5, an dthe my defense was pretty good, and Éomer got Firefoot and Rohan Warhorse, but I kept taking damage, from archery, and unfortunate shadows. Aragorn helped a lot for readying, and that kept me alive. The Uruks made it to stage 3 before round 8, but when I advanced to stage 5 it was an all-out slaughter. Nobody can stand a chance against Éomer's wrath!

My score was 149:

47 Threat,

10 Rounds,

8 Victory Points.

Boons Earned: None.

Burdens Earned: Poisoned Counsels.

Hope you enjoy! Next, Saruman will pay for his crimes.
