Having built this deck organically, we were not surprised to see that it is a popular lineup of heroes. The combination is both strong and thematic.

As much has written already, we won't retreat old ground by detailing every decision in the deck and how it plays. Instead you can read write-ups in the existing deck lists:

We will instead note places where our lineup differs from the above.

We have long been a fan of "Big Plays". High-impact cards or combination of cards than turn a knife-edge situation into a win. Typically you only need 1 or 2 of such a card, as you don't want duplicates, and you don't always care if you don't see them, but when you do they provide options. That's all cards in hand are - options; ethereal creatures offering you one possible future, should you choose the path they hold an outstretched gnarly finger towards.

Astonishing Speed, and The Muster of Rohan bring such options here, allowing a huge questing output on 1 or 2 turns. With a Lothíriel of Éomund, you can quest out and fully untap to wipe the board as well.

Westfold Lancer + Gamling combination is extremely strong, triggering Thengel as well as all the other discard procs. Thengel is really the key to this deck's success - he draws a card and generates 1-4 resources every time he triggers. That is immense value. Getting Thengel procs on your own terms is good, and the Lancer does that with added direct damge.

Finally, Firefoot + Éomer is a beastly attacker. In fact, one of the biggest achievements of ALEP is not just the rejuvenation of Rohan, but also the return of Éomer who goes from being a mid-table hero to an absolute boss, with 5. We note that "And Rohan Will Answer!" runs more Firefoots and Quick Strike at the cost of A Test of Will. This will depend on your taste, and could be swapped scenario to scenario. We've reflected this in the Sideboard.
