A recent favorite deck of mine. I've been itching to make a deck with the new trap cards from ALEP. Initially I wanted to make a Ranger-only deck for theme. I just couldn't make the questing work consistently that way. So I did what I always do: shamefully throw in Eowyn. But, I am a Rohan-lover so I can justify it. I'm glad I did because this game me the idea for using The Last Alliance for infusing my love for traps and Rohan. This helps immensely with resource smoothing allowing me to use traps more effectively... for my Rohan & Gondor deck.

I chose Gondor for my other trait because most rangers in the Trap archetype are Gondor and I get to use Warden of Healing. The only downside is not begin able to use Morwen Steelsheen. You could realistically replace the Warden's with Morwen. I didn't do that because I would then need to find more Rangers to use which takes up card space. Warden is more consistent as well.

This deck is SMOOTH and it is quite fun. Great questing, great resource smoothing, good threat reduction, and decent card draw. I only wish I could use the rest of the contract. I opted out of Spring the Trap because resources aren't usually an issue.

There are no limits to Damrod or Celador's abilities. This in combination with It Should Be Spared or Live Bait creates lots of opportunity for card draw and threat-reduction in a single round.

Proud Hunters could probably be substituted for anything in the side board or to add more Ranger Spear and Live Bait.

I tested it on my usual quests including "Into Ithilien" which is beast with absolute ease... and then on stage 4 I realize our Ranger ally friend is... Celador. Woops! I pretended he was "our random ranger friend" instead.

Suggestions are always welcome!

would put in 1 Quick Strike with Éowyn it is imo autoinclude (at least 1)

would replace the Defender of Rammas with Feint cheaper and so much defending is not necessary, right?

Good points as always @doomguard. I'll try that out :)

To confirm, Live Bait would fall off an enemy at the end of the round if it usually cannot have player attachments?

@Raiderjakk that's a good question. I suppose it would depend on the wording. If it says "cannot have attachments" then I suppose it would fall off. But if it says "immune to player card effects" I guess it would stay on, but would not do anything to the attached character. There may he a few cards that say "cannot play attachments" or something like that. Those would stay on and have full effect. I'll have to go back and check some of the wording of other enemies in the game :)

If enemies are immune to player card effects, it can't have the trap attached in the first place because it would be immune to the "blank the text box" effect.

The wording for not having traps would be important - cannot have attachments would mean the trap falls off, cannot have attachments played on it would mean the trap stays because it's a check at the time of attachment vs a static effect.
