Thorsen 45

This is a solo deck that I have played and modified many times over the years and that has given me a lot of satisfaction. the goal is to remain very low in threat in the early rounds, hoping to find at least one resoureful. the deck cycles very quickly thanks to Bilbo's ability, very often i runned out of cards before the end. Gandalf "must not be late" has to come into play in the first four or five turns otherwise things will get very difficult. While Gandalf is in play the threat will mount quickly, but it's not hard to keep it at bay with cards like the Galadrim's Greeting and the Shirefolk. I have rarely been defeated for reaching 50. When Gandalf has his attachments on him, especially Narya, he will be a machine to go on quest but also to fight or defend if necessary; with the help of other allies you can cope with most enemies.

If you have access to Drinking Song, that would speed things up and help find early key pieces. Also you might consider Fireside Song and Friend of Friends. The Vanish from Sight + A Elbereth! Gilthoniel! combo would also be a natural fit here.

Thanx for the suggestions! I had already reasoned about some of these cards and I even tried some of them. for example, the problem with A Elbereth! Gilthoniel! is that you have to set ypur threat equal to the engagement cost of the enemy; and sometime you jump from 25 to 35, to much for a deck like this, in which you constantly have to controll your threat. Drinking song is good but usually i have 6/8 cards in my hand, some are good some are not, I would only trade them if I didn't have Gandalf , but for example if I had two copies of Gandalf's Staff in my hand I would know that it was lost forever. Fireside Song and Friend of Friends are both very good, but what i can what could I give away for them? the only cards the only cards I could give are Flame of Anor and Sam Gamgee

The A Elbereth! Gilthoniel! + Vanish from Sight combo is more about "you are at 40 threat with an enemy engaged with you with 30 engagement cost. Play Vanish from Sight to be considered being at 20 threat, play A Elbereth! Gilthoniel! for free (since you are considered in secrecy) and set your threat to 30, while getting rid of the enemy.

It KINDA breaks the theme, but if you take Messenger of the King and start with Galion, you get one more hero with a spirit icon for +1 starting threat. Might be worth considering?

Better yet, throw in Folco Boffin, then discard him at the end of the Planning Phase. You'll get an extra Lore resource, and your effective starting threat will be 13.

The deck looks fun to play--OHuH Gandalf is a powerhouse when he sticks around!

@Alonewolf87 i see your point, with this deck i manage to stay between 35 and 25 (or less) going, somentime, over 40 only in the final stages of the game, so A Elbereth! Gilthoniel! can be counterproductive. @Thrakhathi love this crazy idea! I will definitely steal it from you for another deck, but here it deny me to use Strider and The Shirefolk . @FattyBolger this idea is amazing! i'm going to try it at the next game!
