I had a LotR game night with two friends recently, and I volunteered to build a set of three decks for the group. I decided to go with decks that were consistent, but with some thematic allowance.

We played the first quest of the Sands of Harad box. We were headed for a solid win, but made the mistake of leaving too few ready characters when advancing to the second quest card, and got swamped by three surging enemies all at once.

The third deck is in large parts a support deck, sending cards and resources to the other players. Do I really have to specify that Steward of Gondor should be mulliganed for?

Heir of Mardil belongs to Faramir, who will be the sole recipient of his father's card effect. A copy of Errand-rider is needed in play as soon as possible to send resources to the other players. As all three decks generate resources, getting Daeron's Runes secondary effect should be possible most of the time.
