#2 Journey Along the Anduin - Progression - 1 Core Set

JeepSnob 156

Description

I only own one core set, so I've modified this fellowship from TheHiveTyrant's fellowship to be played that way. Having only one core set obviously leads to a very different deck composition.

UPDATE: I finished the first play through with this deck and I'm happy to report that I won. I managed to kill both hill trolls to boot. The low starting threat was huge in giving me time to prepare for the first hill troll. Fortune smiled as I was able to draw and play Son of Arnor and Forest Snare the turn that I hit 30 threat. The most frustrating things I had to deal with were:

  • Citadel Plate was late coming out so I had to take it easy with Gimli for the first half of the game.
  • Steward of Gondor yielded a pile of resources on Théodred that didn't get used as much as I would have liked.
  • Beravor wasn't yielding enough resources to make use of the lore cards I had in my hand. Théodred wasn't able to provide her resources because I was using Beravor's action to draw cards. Eventually I drew Unexpected Courage and got more out of Beravor.

Thanks to TheHiveTyrant for showing the way with hero selection. After living through this I've decided to purchase a second core set when they come back in stock. Having a few key cards in duplicate and triplicate in the two decks should make for a better run, but it's nice to see the scenario beatable with just the one core set.

Hey,@JeepSnob. When I used this hero lineup, I've always put steward of Gondor on Beravor and given Theodred's resource to himself or Eowyn. This really helps to smooth reosources!

I'll give that a try next time. I debated where to put Steward of Gondor because I had so many leadership cards in the starting hand, but I think you're right. Beravor's cards are expensive and she needs the resource help.
