A very curious card, Dwarven Sellsword is extremely uniquely costed and thus a very different prospect depending on various circumstances. Generally speaking, I enjoy it in shorter quests and higher player counts (since in higher player counts, games tend to last fewer rounds and there are potentially more leadership resources around to pay for the forced effect). Further things to consider here are the Dwarf trait (and therefore the synergy with cards like Dáin Ironfoot) and the leadership sphere/resource ask (which is very convenient since leadership is the sphere generally having the most resources and having effects like Steward of Gondor which can be triggered in refresh before the end of the round to satisfy the forced of this ally).

So considering all that, why is this card not ranked higher? The thing that pushed this way down for me was the release of Wilyador, who I consider a major upgrade to this card. So outside of Dwarf decks, I only really ran this card as a 1/2x if I wanted a quick tempo boost, and in those decks, I usually prefer Wilyador now, with Dwarven Sellsword being mostly reserved for Dwarf decks nowadays as far as I am concerned, and even there I have a hard time finding room for it.
