This is my take on the Three Hunters theme. I did not want to use permanent allies in this deck to reflect the struggle and little aid our heroes had in this part of the book. I have taken the liberty to use Gandalf and Galadriel allies though, which I think is fairly thematic as they can help our heroes without the need of being physically with them. For this reason I filled the deck with Attachments and Events, trying to stay as thematic as possible (besides Steward of Gondor).
The deck is thought to be used in solo as well as in multiplayer. For that reason I left a small sideboard to accommodate for a specific need of the quest or fellowship.
I made the deck with the idea of starting fast and furious! With this trio you can quest for 6, defend with Gimli and attack for 7 on the first round independently of your starting hand. This is a very strong asset.
In your starting hand typically you are looking for Elven-light or Steward of Gondor, but the following cards are also good alternatives: Galadriel in combination with Unlikely Friendiship or Legacy of Númenor, Strider, or Sneak Attack and Gandalf.
The deck is well rounded and starts fast, so it can take many sort of quests (besides sailing quests for obvious reasons). The way it plays is very simple, you just need to load your heroes with the respective attachments, quest with all three of them, Gimli defends and Aragorn and Legolas retaliate. Not very subtle :)
Resource generation: To keep the machine turning you need three resources per turn, so I have included cards to generate a steady influx of resources, such as Steward of Gondor, The Day's Rising and Sword of Númenor. Unlikely Friendship and Legacy of Númenor are there more for the initial round(s) (and card drawing in the former case).
Car drawing: The deck typically has a good drawing capability thanks to Gandalf, Galadriel, Elven-light and Unlikely Friendship.
Healing: The only way to heal your heroes is through Dunedain Remedy, so if the quest is heavy on archery or direct damage (The Weather Hills for example) put a third copy of that card, and of course, use your two allies to absorb as much direct damage as possible.
Threat managing: You can reduce your threat with Gandalf and The Galadhrim's Greeting. A no-brainer here.
Well, if you try this deck, I hope you have fun as I do playing with it. Good gaming!

Nov 25, 2018I'm a bit surprised you didn't include the third copy of Mirkwood Long-knife. These kind of decks have a low max , and with the dual-use of the card it's a great include imo. |
On a Archery-heavy quest, following your comment, I would include the Weather Hills Watchman, to help soak that damage and fetch those Dúnedain Remedy.
Looks like a nice deck! I shall try something like that soon.
