Afraid of the sea? Don't like sailing? Then overtake enemy ships through willpower alone, without so much as sending a single sailor to go check the heading. With constant thunderstorms battering your ship, your resolve will carry you through.
This deck is designed to solo Flight of the Stormcaller, but it can be ported to other quests that don't feature much combat, or it can satisfy the questing role alongside a tacktics deck, of course.
It's pretty straitforward, just play down avast number of allies, and bank on their high willpower to get you sailing through the quest stages. Once CĂrdan is bearing his ring, you can use Light of Valinor to let him quest then exhaust him to turn your allies into men of war, who should be able to defend a couple attacks. If they die, dread not, for more allies will come schooner than you think thanks to the deck's strong draw and resource generation.
Try to mulligan for Elven-light, which should provide enough resource-draw smoothing to tide you over. But weather or not you start with a good hand, you should have an ally to play each round, so I recommend choosing Narlenya as your ship.
How many Core Sets are needed? Two cores are. If you don't have access to certain cards, don't worry aboat it. Feel free to swab the deck around and put in whatever allies you want. This is just the list I landed on, and I avoided any side-boarding. If you have any suggestions, be sure to float some ideas my way. I'd be happy to get some.
The sea can be treacherous, especially if you're set on staying as far off course as possible. A Test of Will can be very useful, or you could pair it with another deck with cancellation cards, for example ,Door is Closed!.
Give it a try and let me know if you like it, or on the other hand, let me know if you think it's not a cool deck.

Jul 10, 2016I used the Boromir deck to beat two complete cycles. I wanted to switch it up, so i tried this deck against the first Flight quest. I had trouble with the corsairs. I was thinking of switching Frodo with one of other heroes. I also built a companion mono-tactics deck. I lost a few times that way. What deck do you think would be a good match for beating the Flight quests? |

In general, I think ally-spam decks are great at sailing quests because you need more actions out of your characters than a regular quest. So a dwarf deck or a Gondor deck like ringsdb.com can be effective. I'd also recommend including some specific cards for FotS, like Thror's Map, to help with the locations. Good luck! |
Jul 10, 2016Thanks Seastan. I guess it never occurred to me that I don't have to kill everything. I got picked off by the ships that have archery. I've played so much more since this site and your decks came out, so thanks. Can't wait to see what you can do with tactics Eowyn when she comes out. Have you ever tried to build for decks that work together? |

Aug 08, 2016I have to say that the trouble I had playing this deck was because I was playing the wrong quest. I was playing Voyage Across Belegaer. I just beat Flight in three rounds. No shots fired. So much fun after getting destroyed by Raid for the past two weeks or so. Thank you for this deck. |
