Here’s a Saruman deck I’ve recently started testing. It has two all-stars though - Saruman and Firyal (from the Messenger of the King contract).
Galadriel is in the deck along with her handmaidens mainly for threat reduction, and some additional willpower, if needed. Galadriel also contributes with card draw.
Saruman’s staff is vital for this deck to work properly. Mulligan to find it as soon as possible. It helps you play strong doomed event cards such as:
- Saruman’s Sneak Attack & Gandalf (Horns! Horns! Horns!)
- Saruman’s Feint (The Wizard’s Voice)
- Legacy of Numenor for resource acceleration - the sooner the better
- Deep Knowledge for more card draw
You can fetch doomed cards with the Seeing-stone and whatever other card you need with Word of Command. You can easily ready Saruman after you play a doomed card.
Another great combo is to sync Firyal’s ability with Far-sighted and you can easily plan your next turns when playing solo. Having Firyal in play from the start really propels the deck. A lot of the allies are Ents and it takes some time to get them going and Firyal allows for that to happen.
There’s an upcoming doomed 2 event that will allow us to ready a character. It will be perfect in this deck to ready Treebeard (in addition to readying Saruman) the round he comes into play.
Some of the quest played so far:
Peril in Pelargir - 1 W (113); 0 L
Passage Through Mirkwood (feat. Time objective from The Wastes of Eriador) - 1 W (109); 0 L
Journey to Rhosgobel - 1 W (88); 0 L (with 3x Lore of Imladris)
