Note: Here's an updated version of my currently favorite control deck that features Saruman, a slightly corrupted Galadriel (attaching Dark Knowledge to her is ideal), and their most obedient Haradrim spy Firyal. This second version includes 3 copies of Defiant Challenge for readying both Saruman and Treebeard (or any other Ent for that matter), and The Fall of Gil-Galad to help reduce your threat by 13 by sacrificing Saruman if things go horribly wrong.
Galadriel is in the deck along with her handmaidens for their threat reduction, the handmaiden's additional willpower, and Galadriel's card draw.
Saruman’s staff is vital for this deck to work properly. Mulligan to find it as soon as possible. It helps you play strong doomed event cards such as:
- Saruman’s Sneak Attack & Gandalf (Horns! Horns! Horns!)
- Saruman’s Feint (The Wizard’s Voice)
- Far-sighted makes the game so much easier and helps you plan ahead how to use Firyal's ability in the best possible way.
- Deep Knowledge, Word of Command, and The Seeing-stone allow for huge card draw.
- Defiant Challenge helps you get Treebeard and the other strong but rather slow Ent allies into the fray from the get-go.
You can fetch doomed cards with the Seeing-stone and whatever other card you may need with Word of Command (for example, Treebeard).
Well, that's it. I hope you'll have fun with the deck! :)
P.S. I managed to beat The Battle of Carn Dum and The Dread Realm with it, so it's definitely quite powerful against some quests.
