Basic idea is to play at least 2 Silvan allies a turn. Once during planning and once during the combat phase with Thranduil's ability. From there swarm into a critical mass.
Strider is the first choice for the setup attachment if it is not in your starting hand for the willpower boost early game. O Lorien! is the second choice to help get allies into play. Elvenking is fine if starting hand has both Strider and O Lorien!, but it is not ideal. Elvenking is mainly in the deck to allow a way to return Weavers or Minstrels to hand mid to late game to recycle and find Hosts of Galadhrim, respectively.
Early game willpower is the priority. Starting at 9 threat, generally will be planning on optionally engaging most enemies unless the scenario has really engagement costs or starts with an enemy engaged.
Make sure to play Valiant Sacrifice early and often when returning Silvan allies to hand with The Tree People or Feigned Voices.
It's very easy to stay in secrecy with this deck as the handmaidens can offset some use of the contract. Especially once Host of Galadhrim has been played a few times.
The deck is not fully tuned, but it made a strong showing first time out.
Why no Resourceful or Timely Aid? I honestly forgot about putting in Resourceful, The deck runs a low enough cost curve that resources generally were not a problem with the contract providing resources. Steward of Gondor might even be under consideration for cutting. Except I may try to see about giving Thranduil the Gondor trait so the deck can run Lord of Morthond for more card draw.

I'm going to try out a version with a single In Service of the Steward to start the game in play. I'm keeping Valiant Sacrifices in to dig for Lord of Morthond. I'm concerned it will slow the down the deck in the early game too much, but the card draw would be so nice. Galion is very good for Silvans. I'm not he works here. The contract only allows for the first non-unique card to not have a resource match. This means there's no way to play him during planning and quest. Yes he's cheap for Feigned Voices or Tree People during combat but usually I would want to pick up minstrel or weaver to get more to get an event or recycle a card back into the deck. I might be able to find room for one copy to try it out. I forgot Legolas is a Silvan too. I'll have to try him out. I actually like the marksman over the Galadhon Archers. The - 2 defense and 3 attack make for a really strong attackers. The resource cost is the only thing keeping me from swapping them completely. Completely agree on Greenwood Defender. They were one of the first cuts in my Lord of Morthond version. I thought it would be good to have some Leadership allies to play after playing an ally without a resource match. I found I had enough resources for playing 2 allies a turn but not really three most of the time. The healers are mainly in the sideboard for multiplayer support. Healing 1 on Thranduil when they're played isn't very good. Especially since the trackers will do that every turn. |
Aug 10, 2020you are right, i forget that. and without morthond, gallion is not this good. then the deck lacks carddraw, i would compensate that with mor copys of legolas. o.k.my modifications depending on your original, with that new informations are: -1 olorien/strider, depends on what i want as 1. attachement +1 of the other -3 guardian +3 legolas +3 timely aid (with morelegolas in the deck it makes more sense, higher chance to get him with timely aid or treefolk) +1 lord of morthond (only nice to have after steward) -1 elvenking (another action with him seems not soo important, specially if you use the contract after questing, what is totally o.k. if you want to play an ally in the combat-phase) -2 of the 9 galedon-, greenwoodarcher, naith |
Aug 10, 2020You could start In Service of the Steward and play 3x Lord of Morthond. Maybe a few cards to help pull it early? |
Aug 10, 2020you can include 3 drinkingsongs, but these where 7 cards to only get 1 into play, and that card is for carddraw. i think if you need this much preparation its not worth it. imo take legolas and include timely aid will be more worth without lessens the idea of the deck. |

Probably down to one copy of Elvenking and Strider. I'm not so much interested in the readying as it is another way to return a Silvan to hand if a scenario forces me to discard cards. Then I can still try to recycle Hosts or Feigned Voices back into the deck. Strider as the starting attachment should be fine at one copy. Especially as willpower boost goes away eventually. Steward is likely out or down to 2 copies. I haven't settled on it yet. |
to get it really going take lord of morthond and you draw a cards for every silvan you play that is not leadership.
then you do not need valiant sacrifice
so, my modifications where:
+1 lord of morthond (1. attachement)
+1 o´lorien
+1elvenking
+1galion (he is soo good, let you draw a card for free, you take him back and play next turn for free again
+1 legolas
+1 healer
out:
-3 valiant sacrifice
-2greenwood defender (without celeborn, they are not this good)
-1 marksman and replace the marksman with his son (legolas). if you do so (morthond) i would replace 2 greenwooddefender with the healer in the sideboard.
OR
take olorien as startingattachement (then only 1) and 3 lord of morthond
