I love playing 0 cost events off the top of the deck with Gandalf. Wealth of Gondor and Gaining Strength are both quite good when the card draw was free and it's so easy to play them in phases other than the planning phase. I particularly like how good Taking Initiative is in this deck, it's one of the worst cards in the game but here it's incredible card draw and damage that can be quite clutch.

This isn't a knock your socks off power deck but I've found it quite solid for most quests and more importantly extremely fun. You draw so so many cards which keeps it quite consistent, while still having plenty of resources to play them. You draw through your deck in long quests, but I haven't ever lost because of that so haven't bothered to include Will of the West. It does max out at around 7-10 for questing but it provides a lot of support and incredible versatility.

I generally play with 2 players and obviously a few of the cards should be flexed depending on what the other player needs. The Celebrian Stone, Wealth of Gondor, Expert Treasure Hunter, Woodmen's Clearing, and some of the duplicates like War Axe and Destrier are all for my ally's deck. This deck, like most, would obviously be enhanced by The One Ring but it was unavailable in my last few fellowships (saga, other player using etc).

Is this viable just running the Forth, The Three Hunters! contract, or does it only work if you house rule it to play with 2 contracts?

i dont think you can run 2 contracts but cool anyway

@jvader, the rules specify one contract per player.

Instead, each player may choose one contract to put into play along with his heroes at the beginning of the game with the "A" side faceup. If a contract places restrictions on the content of a player's deck, those restrictions must be met in order to choose the contract.

Ok but because it’s a single player game whatever

@jvader Can't argue with that logic. :)
