This deck was built for the quest Beneath the Sands.
Getting Bombur out early to eliminate the threat of an underground location helps significantly early game. An early Ever My Heart Rises on Dain or another Dwarf Character helps significantly too primarily to help mitigate threat gain as there are a number of treacheries that can raise threat and being Off Track can raise it quickly too.
Wizard's Pipe is great to set up mining a Hidden Cache or Ered Luin Miner with Dain's ability. Gather Information or Bilbo can help find it. The Wizard's Pipe also facilitates Ring of Thror pumping out attachments once it is on Dain. Not to mention getting multiple defenses from Dain. Especially in Beneath the Sands with shadows that add enemies or give additional attacks.
Silver Lamp and Gandalf's Staff can also always discard the worst shadow.
Thurindir and the side quests bring are the big willpower boost in this deck. Rally the West is very important to turn him and Gandalf into questing machines.
The suite of pipes offer some resource acceleration through Smoke and Think, threat reduction with Smoke Rings, and card draw with Old Toby.
