This deck was designed for my saga campaign (in particular the Battle of the Pelennor Fields) in true solo. In many ways this is just another take on a Gandalf Vilya deck, but with Strider utilised to minimise starting threat and provide an early questing/willpower boost and action advantage. I've since tried the deck against a number of other quests and found it to be effective and great fun to play.
The key cards to look for early on are Strider, Vilya and Wizard Pipe, with Strider and Vilya being essential (mulligan for these).
Is this 'the one deck to rule them all'? No, as it relies on particular cards in your opening hand, and without them, you are struggling. However, I regularly got Strider and Vilya either in my opening hand, or very early on, and once the deck gets going it's very hard to stop. Resources aren't an issue, as they are only needed for events and attachments.
Is this a fun deck to play? Yes! This deck is an absolute blast to play, and allows you to assemble some of the most powerful allies in the game together. Having Elrond and Gandalf (especially if you get Narya on him) leading the great names of Middle Earth in battle against the worst that Mordor (and the encounter deck) can throw at you is such a rewarding experience. Further, having now beaten The Battle of the Pelennor Fields on a few occasions (complete with the boons and burdens accumulated throughout my campaign), I feel like the deck has earnt its stripes.
