This deck comes from the Lord of the Haven by Gizlivadi. Thanks to him.
As far as myself, I enjoy thematic decks the most. Currently, I am trying to go thru the Grey Havens/Dreamchaser cycle using Noldor decks. I'm okay with changing a deck up, even switching heroes. I even had Gandalf and the an Ent show up at the Grey Havens when they were attacked (3rd quest - thanks Seastan for the deck). But...am really trying to stick with pure Noldor now that we're out on the seas.
I tried several different decks that have been posted here and elsewhere....and just couldn't defeat Thing In the Depths. And there is nothing out there for decks to beat this quest...even ignoring the Noldor requirement.
So I eventually stumbled on the original deck by Gizlivadi - which is not specifically for this quest -- but hey...Noldor. Tried it...and came really close several times, but threat was a problem. I found I wasn't using Narya, so I dumped it and a couple other cards to add Elrond's Counsel and an additional Will of the West. Worked like a charm.
Gizlivadi's main concern for opening is to have To the Sea! from the start and that holds true. I found I could not engage Sahir and Na'asiyah until round 5-7 --- which surprised me a bit. But by that time, there are enough allies out that you can absorb the big hits and then attack Sahir and clear him of tokens. After that, quest hard to clear the Helm and finish the stage. Once that's clear, you need just a bit of luck to not be completely overwhelmed by Tentacles, but it's do-able.
I won 2 out of 3 tries with this deck. The loss was a forfeit due to forgetting a rule - to my huge benefit. Not sure if I would have pulled that one out or not. Hope you enjoy it.
This deck has also defeated the next 2 quests in the cycle --- Temple of the Deceived and Drowned Ruins.
