The Purple Wizard 1352
I remember in the early days of hobbit decks, back when The Black Riders was still fresh, trying out a campaign with Sam Gamgee, Pippin, and Glorfindel (in the place of the typical Merry. It was quite solid and offered a different flavor than the Sam/Pip/Merry threesome did. Glorfindel's 5 hit points were massive in contrast to the hobbits' normal pool and helped out a ton. I don't think that deck was better than the hobbits on their own but I think it was about as good, and I enjoyed it, though trading access to tactics for spirit had its pros and cons.
Fast forward many years later and Bond of Friendship means I no longer have to choose between Glorfindel and Merry. Why not have both! This deck loses the secrecy that either three-hero lineup offers but gives the best of all spheres. Every card here is useful but there's enough variety that you won't play the same way each time.
This isn't a definitive, exhaustively playtested set of 50 cards. You could switch several things out based on personal preference or the quest. But it is a very solid all-around deck with a fun and cohesive quad of heroes and a little bit different way to play hobbits. Give it a go sometime!
